“I think that’s a big part of self-defense, is just being aware of where to put yourself and where not to put yourself,” said Julie Fields who works at Renaissance Martial Arts.

The moves that Renaissance Martial Arts show off prove that moves are all based on leverage and not strength. Doing things like managing space, closing the distance between you and your attacker, or getting far away is a big part of self-defense.
